I know it is a little late to send bridesmaid invitations when I asked my girlies way back in August, 4 hours after we got engaged, over the phone. I was so excited that I used the whole, “How would you like to be barefoot, on the beach, in a gorgeous strapless dress next October?” Some of the girls immediately caught on and started screaming, while others, like my m.o.h., told me she hated strapless dresses and didn’t get what I was talking about. All of my bridesmaids had different reactions – but one of my favorites came from my roomie college. She simply stated – “Are you effing kidding me?” (I never really discussed the night B proposed, but let’s just say that NO ONE saw it coming. I’ll tell that story some other time.)
I was wrong……about the easy part.
I spent ALL DAY making 7 bridesmaid invites, 1 maid of honor invite, and 2 flower girl invites. I put LOTS of thought into each card, writing personalized notes, and making 8 tiny dresses out of red and green paper. My neck hurts and my back hurts and I have a blister on my pointer finger from using a felt tip scrapbooking pen to draw everyone’s name. I hope my bridal party loves
The dress with the straps is for my sister, Lizzie, because she does NOT like strapless. The dress with the green stripe towards the bottom is not upside-down. I was just trying something different. They look really easy to make – but cutting out dresses and sashes that tiny was very difficult.
The only reason I did flower girl invitations is because we won’t see B’s cousins after Thanksgiving for a long time. I have only met the girls twice, and that was 2 years ago. I made these a little different, and little girl friendly. I bought some foam flowers from the craft store and foam beach stickers. I also used purple sparkly flower stickers and permanent markers. We are only going to see Brandon’s cousins at Thanksgiving, so I decided to make them invitations
