When I was little my mom used to tell me that my nerves were backwards, and the ends were exposed to the world, causing me great irritation with the smallest, most simple things. I think that this would explain why I get annoyed with people very easily. Chewing, breathing, tapping, smacking, whistling – even the softest, but repetitive noise, can make me want to climb up a wall. And those are only a few of the many things that drive me insane.
I know I have issues, but I have been this way since I was born and I can’t help it. I used to pitch a fit every time my mom took a left hand turn while driving the car. Picture a tiny, porcelain faced, green eyed little girl, with a crazy mass of curls on her head, SCREAMING from her car seat every time her mother had to make a left turn. That was me – I also was a car seat houdini but thats another story….I am really sorry Mom for giving you a headache every time we had to drive in the car.
Let’s just say *I know someone who*…likes to whistle, breath heavy, tap on desktops, and has a tendency to walk around too much. Unfortunately, I sit in an area that experiences a lot of ‘human traffic’ during the day…which if I had had a choice in seating, I would never in a million years have picked here. People walking by me in general irks me enough. When you throw in their weird habits – such as whistling – or mumbling – forget it. I don’t even like when people talk to me. Just cause they are walking by, and I look up to see who it is, does NOT mean I want to chat. I think I’d rather have chinese water torture.
(*learned that one in D.A.R.E in 5Th grade – it prevents anyone from getting offended from the following accusation or statement)
Okay, that’s a lie. Chinese water torture would consist of repetitive droplets of water plinking on my forehead and that categorizes as extrememly annoying.
If I wasn’t such a nice person I would tell those around me that their habits annoy me. But I just can’t do it. I shall remain silently screaming forever – or until the levees break and I go nuts.
