Last weekend we decided we were going to finally register for our wedding gifts. Armed with our handy dandy The Knot wedding registry checklist, we headed to the mall.
We registered for wedding gifts at Macy’s….and only Macy’s. We had planned to register at Crate and Barrel and Bed, Bath, Beyond, but after Macy’s we were pooped. Not only was there a 70 year old woman walking around the department store playing the bagpipes, but also way too many down comforters to choose from. I think that we somehow settled on what I am almost positive is the most expensive comforter in the store. It is not like we looked at prices, we just squished all the down blankets in the store and picked the most squishy. Macy’s at Lenox Mall, Atlanta
B and I created a touch test for choosing the best towels, bedding, luggage …. you name it, we touched it. Everything that we registered for we had to handle, hold, throw (…jk) before we pointed our little scan machine at the bar code. I think that our system was successful because we are now registered for the most soft, feathery, and durable items in Macy’s.
The touch test even worked for our fine china. We were allowed to pick multiple sets of china, flatware, stemware, and linens and assemble our own little place setting on the mock tables set up in Macy’s dining section. It was so cool! We did not have to imagine what our table would look like with: Waterford Kilbarry Platinum china, Mikasa Olympus stemware, Lenox Laurel placemats, and Jean Couzon Lyrique silverware. Lisa, our helpful wedding registry consultant, put together our place setting and allowed me to photograph our creation. I have been showing it off because B and I are so proud of what we put together.
At the end of our registry ‘session,’ we realized we had forgotten a couple of things we wanted. Fortunately, Macy’s wedding registry online is awesome, and we might just add the vases and vacuum we forgot over the internet.
The mall is scary on the weekend – so many people lurking around = pressure to hurry things up. We are heading to Crate and Barrel this Saturday, but plan on arriving as soon as the doors open and not around lunchtime. I am really excited to see what kind of bar code scanner we get to use there – Macy’s didn’t have the little scan gun you see in movies. We want to play with one of those.
