Happy Friday Favorites! Today I’m sharing a few photos of our new home renovation. We closed on our house exactly one month ago from today and quite a bit has changed since we signed the papers. So far all of the upgrades and changes have been made by family members – I am SO thankful for my brother-in-laws for their hard work, as well as my Mom and sister who’ve been painting with me this week. We have two family rooms in our house – one very large room and one smaller room. I can’t decide on a name for the smaller since it is a living area, but going to be informal as it’s connected to the playroom. The large family room (and built-ins) have been painted Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore. It’s bright, airy, and beautiful.
We will install the White Oak laminate tile seen below over the next week or so. I can’t wait to see the contrast.
We have combined two of the upstairs bedrooms to create a master bedroom that will fit our furniture and give us enough living space for a small desk/large mirror.
My brother in law knocked down a wall that contained two closets and built a new closet where the second bedroom door was placed. It is incredible how he could make a door disappear.
Another upgrade in our new home had to occur in the master bathroom. It isn’t a large space and the shower was particularly small, so my brother in laws gutted the shower.
Here is the inspiration for the new shower – but I chose white grout and chrome fixtures.
Pink is the only color Annabelle’s room could ever be. We ordered her furniture from Jordan’s two weeks ago and were shocked when they called to schedule a delivery so quickly. Last night I painted her closet white and we’re ordering shelving so we can organize her clothes and shoes before we move in.
Pottery Barn Kids is having a SALE, so I picked up a Queen sized Garden Rose Duvet and Duvet Insert.
My brother-in-law’s Dad is installing the most beautiful gray tile in the entryway of our family room. He is also installing tile in the entryway of the foyer! We didn’t originally plan to remove and replace the existing tile, but we changed our minds after choosing the pergo for the family and living rooms.
Fireplace and Built-Ins
We knew immediately when we saw the fireplace that we wanted to whitewash the brick and paint the built-ins white. My friend Kristina whitewashed the brick the first night we worked on the house (tutorial coming soon). Now my brother-in-law is preparing the built-ins to be painted white by applying an oil based primer. Here is what we have so far:
Today we are painting this room Benjamin Moore Winter White and tonight the cabinets should receive their first coat of paint. If the fireplace seems too dark compared to the cabinets we will apply another whitewash.
