Thank you Facebook Marketplace for sponsoring this post. There’s something for everyone!
The Christmas season is in full effect and making spirits bright is my favorite thing to do. Since we moved into a new home that’s bigger than the last, we had to restock our Christmas decoration collection. My husband is so proud of the exterior of our home, adorning each window with a red bow wreath, twinkly lights around the red front door, and creating a warm, inviting breezeway for everyone who comes to visit. I wanted to surprise him with an item that would remain a symbol of our first year in the new home. I looked on Facebook Marketplace for unique, one-of-a-kind decorations in our area and was thrilled with my findings.
One of the ideas we had for the breezeway on our home was to display an antique sled against the wall. A sled made of metal and wood not only symbolizes my childhood adventures sledding in New England, but my husband’s youth in the South as well. It’s not easy to find an antique sled online with a simple search – most shops sell antique “inspired” sleds and not the real thing. What is great about Facebook Marketplace is that it’s an easy, convenient way to discover, buy, and even sell special items, like an antique sled. After an easy search on Facebook Marketplace revealed a couple of sleds in our area, I quickly contacted the sellers, and within a half hour I’d purchased and arranged a pick-up for my husband’s surprise!
My husband was thrilled with the addition to our breezeway and agrees it is a unique decoration that’s symbolic of our first Christmas in CT. The antique sled is a gift he will treasure for years to come. The hand painted details on the sled are a special feature not found on your regular antique sled, and depict a perfect wintery day for sledding.
If you haven’t used Facebook Marketplace yet for shopping (or selling), you’re missing out on an extremely easy service. You can save money by shopping locally through Facebook Marketplace for everything from special items to everyday items that typically cost more in stores. All you need to shop on Facebook Marketplace is a Facebook account. You can easily search for items in a designated area and then check out a person’s public Facebook profile before deciding to buy (or sell) from the person.
Not only was it simple to find the item I wanted to give my husband, but it was also quick. I searched “antique sled” within a 5 mile radius from my home and found a few options. After checking out the sellers and discussing the items they had listed, I chose to purchase a sled from a lovely woman just a few towns over. I paid her online and picked it up outside her home on the same day. If I had not found a sled immediately, I would have been able to save the search and be notified if something popped up nearby.
Decorating for the holidays was made easy with Facebook Marketplace. Gift giving for the holidays can be made simple too by using Facebook Marketplace. I love vintage milk glass vases and plan to teach my husband to use Facebook Marketplace to find more to add to my collection.
